FTP/SFTP seems like it would be a nice standard and easy way to upload files. Especially if you wanted to bulk-upload a bunch of, say, MP3s or video files to the server from your archives. Or if you wanted to--imagine!--AUTOMATE the uploading of your files that you produce week after week. I think something like FTP would be more efficient than using a web interface in such cases.

I realize this wouldn't be practical given the way the files are currently stored, with the files tied to records in the database as they are (and funny, non-user-friendly paths like /site_data/214/assets/0007/9657/2009-05-16.pdf, each file in a subdirectory named after the asset record in the database), but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway.

It would just be neat if files on the server were arranged nice and simply like on a user's local computer -- with one directory per Document Group. Then all you'd have to do upload the bulletin each week would be ftp the latest file from your local bulletins/ directory to the bulletins/ directory on the server.

When editing/updating a document, it would be extremely helpful if this process was able to be done like it was in v2.0 - the document could be replaced by browsing and selecting the new version of the document. This process did not break the links and all links now went to the new document. No further steps needed. With v3.0, the document must be completely deleted and the process has to be started from the very beginning. All links to that original document are broken and must be reconnected. If a document is located in several locations within the site, it is sometimes difficult for all previous links to be located and updated efficiently.

It would be nice if there were an alternative way to upload files for users to fall back to in case the fancy Flash uploader didn't work for whatever reason (it doesn't work for me, for example) -- just a plain, standards-based (multipart/form-data) HTML form that one can count on ALWAYS working in ANY browser on ANY OS...

The popular social networking site Facebook is an example of a site (I'm sure there are others) that does this. Below its Java-based uploader, Facebook has a link, "Trouble uploading photos? Try the Simple Uploader." which links to a simple 5-slot fail-safe file-upload form...

Can I suggest a 4th question "Who can edit this Page?" to fall under the “Privileges and Sharing" section of content pages.
At present any group with the Content Pages permission ticked have the ability to fully "View - Edit - Delete" - ANY Content page. After much testing I have come to the conclusion that as far as editing is concerned it’s pretty much all or nothing.
I don’t have the capability of assigning a custom group edit writes to a single and/or multiple page/s, only ALL pages. So the standard Publisher group with the “Content Page” permissions has too much access in most situations. There is no middle ground when it comes to editing content pages.
The Front end of the website can be locked down by setting the desired group to the have viewing rights only to that particular page i.e. Custom created group "Patherfinder" - (Which user access groups can view this page?) - However the Backend/Editing side of the Netadventist application has no editing security.

The ideia behind it's to have a console that you could create a newsletter, with options to have templates to the email, choosing how many news (from news), events (from calendar), if you have new pic's, user comments, you would like to have in the e-mail, pointing to website.

To user: Have option to receive, daily, weekly, monthly newsletter, and the user could choose witch he wants to receive.

Doens't need fancy as http://www.mailchimp.com/ or http://www.campaignmonitor.com/

What they have that could be really usefull:
- Design email templates
- Good List Management
- Track your emails sent.

We have e-mail list and send e-mail. but this tool it's not really useful.
